Upcoming events

First Thursdays with Paul Safar at Tsunami Books, 2585 Willamette Street in Eugene. Paul will play the century old piano at the bookstore the first Thursday evening of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A smorgasbord of styles from old and new classical, jazz and Beatles to original compositions, Paul finds common threads and weaves in background stories to the music. This is a solo piano(and occasional voice) evening with the possibility of a guest or two. Feel free to sit down or wander the bookstore. Free but donations accepted go to the Burrito Brigade working to rid Eugene of food insecurity.

My lineup of First Thursdays coming up:

March 2nd: special guest is violinist James Anderson

April 6th: pianist Ben Farrell joins me in duets and solos.

May 4th, Portland pianist/composer Ted Clifford is my guest for some improvisational fun.

June 1st, guitarist-singer Craig Einhorn is my special guest!

Then the last weekend of February, The Rose Children’s Theatre brings to life Nisse’s Dream by Nancy Wood and Paul Safar!

We are delighted to be collaborating with local musicians and playwrights Paul Safar and Nancy Wood to bring their story of Nisse’s Dream to life on stage with a cast of kids.

Nisse’s Dream is the story of a young man named Nisse who must retrieve his family’s stolen cow from Neem the Queen and her greedy pack of bumbling trolls. On his journey he finds friendship and encouragement from a loyal dog, a pompous bear, and a magical blue witch who just happens to be his mother in disguise. Complete with magic tricks and a “troll ballet” Nisse’s Dream is a delightful addition to the world of children’s music and theater.
